Johnny Weaver Boxing Art Nelson in 1971

Johnny Weaver and George Becker had a great feud with Gene Anderson and Art Nelson in 1971. For this boxing match George Becker and Gene Anderson worked the corners for their partners.Walter Buckner is the referee. As you can see,Johnny Weaver won. This boxing match  led to Art Nelson taping his fists and introducing the "brass knuckles" matches to the territory. These photos come from Johnny Weaver's personal collection. Johnny allowed my Dad to scan these in 2007.There are a few more from this match that I may post in the future if anyone would like to see those.

I did not get to see this card but the following night I was at the old Coliseum in Winston-Salem,NC. Jack Brisco was scheduled to meet Flair for the NWA title that night also.It was announced that Jack Brisco had injured his leg and would not be able to wrestle.Roddy Piper subbed for Jack.
